Guangzhou Day 2 -Shopping!!!!

Sunday on our Shopping Day

The plaza that we walked through to get into the mall to shop!

Now when they say mall, they mean a mall!

It was 6 levels and there were 2 buildings.

It's a shopping day!! We have been shopping here and there, but this was a morning of shopping in a mall. Our very large bus took us all to the mall. We were dropped off in a large square that looked like New York with all the big screens and lights. Lily & Rebecca then took us around the mall. We split up some and we could do what we wanted, but they took us to stores that had good quality products and good prices. We started out at the DVD/CD store where we bought movies that were just $2 each and played in Chinese and English. We bought a few kid movies and a few chick flicks for me too. Then we moved onto some clothing stores that had mostly American looking kid clothes because many families needed to buy clothes for their children to wear. We spent most of our time at the pearl shop where we bought both our girls pearls & earrings. We picked out the quality of pearls that we wanted and they made them right there before our eyes. We thought that it would be nice to give to the girls for their birthdays when they get a little older. It was by far our biggest purchase yet, but cheaper than home by far. One of our guides, Rebecca came up at the end of our purchase and talked her into giving us several things since we had purchased several necklaces from her and we were very happy! We want to be sure to give Anna Claire a sense of where she came from all her life and some keepsakes as well.

We then met our friends for lunch at Pizza Hut! It is always interesting ordering when you can't speak the language. We just point to the pictures for the toppings that we want and hope for the best! They are good and it is a nice change from Chinese food.

While on our journey through the mall we told Rebecca that we needed to get a suitcase. We are allowed another piece of luggage because Anna Claire will have a seat. This way we can take home all of our souvenirs and trust me, we are going to need it!

MOM: THIS IS FOR YOU!
Lily & Rebecca then led us outside of the mall to what we would consider a department store. When we entered there we saw make-up counters, but with brands that we buy at Wal-Mart. What I thought was so funny is the picture above. It is the PONDS counter! Some Merle Norman Corporate people told us that it was the worst thing that you could put on your face and they had a counter of it! I had to get pictures! Everything is just so different here.
The mall had several levels and most wanted to go to the baby floor where we could buy clothes, shoes, diapers, wipes, formula and much more. I just needed to get Anna Claire some thick tights to wear with her dresses. Her little legs are getting cold at times so I thought this would be the way that she could still wear her dresses. Everywhere we go there are tons of sales people in the stores and they are very eager to help you. So when I found the tights, the lady writes me a ticket and then holds them until I go to the cashier on that floor and pay. Once I have paid and all my tickets have been marked from the different departments that I got stuff in, then you have to go and collect your items by showing your tickets with a paid stamp. It is a very unique way of doing things, but I guess it prevents stealing.
